Luke Brewer has lived his entire life in the 97th district as a 6th generation resident of Holmes County. He grew up on a farm just outside the village of Glenmont with his parents and three sisters. Brewer's parents, Tom and Julia, have both taught in the West Holmes School District, and both are currently educators within Holmes County. Luke graduated from West Holmes High School as the Valedictorian in 2005 and now attends the Ohio State University where he is majoring in Political Science and Economics. While in Holmes County Luke served for two years as the president of the Holmes County Young Democrats.

Luke has grown up on the family farm and has a special tie to agriculture in Holmes County, not only through his past but through his sisters, one of whom recently graduated from the Ohio State University with a degree in Agricultural Education. Growing up Luke was an active member of the community, involved in sports while in high school as well as theater and music. Luke was involved with community service through 4-H and Catholic Heart Work Camp. In 2004 Luke was chosen as the Holmes County Fair King as a Junior in High School. During his senior year Luke committed to attending the Ohio State University, foregoing his waitlisted status at Harvard University. Luke received several scholastic scholarships from the Holmes County area including the Rural Electric Cooperative Scholarship and the Holmes County Historical Society Scholarship.

Through his parents background in education and his own experiences growing up in the public school system Luke understands the necessity of a fair and plausible education system in the state of Ohio. Further political experience includes a 6 week internship with a Federal Member of the Canadian Parliament in the summer of 2007. While in Canada, Luke corresponded with constituents as well as attended numerous committee meeting and hearings with his Member of Parliament.
